Welcome to New Preceptor Toolkit.
Welcome to the Max Rady College of Medicine and thank you for joining our community of clinical teachers. By opening your practice, clinic, hospital service, or community setting to learners, you are making a profound contribution to the education of future physicians. Clinical teachers are at the heart of medical education. The knowledge, skills, professionalism, and compassion that learners develop are shaped not only by formal teaching, but by the example set every day through patient care, teamwork, and clinical decision-making. Whether you are supervising a learner for the first time or returning after many years of teaching, your expertise and willingness to share it are deeply valued.
Teaching is also an opportunity for professional growth. Many clinical teachers find that working with learners encourages them to reflect on their own practice, remain current with emerging evidence, and rediscover the curiosity that first drew them to medicine. At the Max Rady College of Medicine, we are committed to supporting you in this important role. Through faculty development programs, practical teaching resources, and a network of experienced educators, we aim to help you develop the confidence and skills to create meaningful learning experiences while providing excellent patient care. We are grateful for your commitment to our learners and look forward to partnering with you in preparing the next generation of physicians.
